Members of George Hildebran Fire/Rescue along with hundreds of other participants from all over North Carolina descended upon Western Piedmont Community College for the Burke County Fire Rescue College. The weekend college is sponsored by the Burke County Firefighters Association and was held on October 17th, 18th and 19th on the WPCC Campus as well as the long anticipated Emergency Services Training Center located on Coal Chute Rd in Morganton. Just to give a little information about the ESTC, in the completion of phase one it contains a residential burn building, an area for vehicle extrication training, a forcible entry simulator, a soon to be completed LP Gas training area and an asphalt driving pad that is large enough to accommodate classes on Fire Apparatus, Ambulance and Law Enforcement Vehicle driving scenarios. GHFR personnel who traveled to WPCC attended classes on Hazardous Materials, Wildland Fire Suppression and several other areas of training. Engine 731 was utilized at the Fire College in the Firefighter I & II Hose Streams and Appliances class which teaches students about proper maintenance as well as techniques on many different firefighting scenarios. A special thanks to Nick Reed Sr. for providing that class with his Nozzle Manipulation Trailer seen in the pictures.
